‘Solastalgia’ is a sonic representation of emotional and physical landscapes. This LP arrives on the heels of the COVID-19 pandemic begging the question: where do we go now? By holding the broken pieces of a relationship in one hand and the remnants of familiar landscapes in the other, ‘Solastalgia’ explores the impact of losing the sense of belonging. Inspired by the work of Glenn Albrecht’s Earth Emotions, Sumi faces the challenges of climate-related mental health issues head on.

about

Annie Sumi Guelph, Ontario

This surrealist songwriter speaks to the open-hearts that still wander about through life believing in magic. Her delicately hopeful perspective is portrayed through her lilting vocal melodies, and her powerful lyrical content.
